Hello all, it's great to be home. This was Wheeling to me from about 1956 through 1967. I attended Mark Twain Elementary from 1960 through 1967, then moved to Miami, Florida. Not an incredibly long time, but the memories happily linger. I wonder if anyone reading also attended MT or lived in the Dunhurst area about the same time I did. Would enjoy hearing from you.

Hello everyone. I am but a mere teenager here expressing my opinion on the web. I think this web site was ok. I think they should enhance our excellent education systems though. I mean, being a student at WHS, i am able to say that i am happy there, and i really think i am learning a lot. I have lives here in Wheeling for about 12-13 years now, and my parents do plan on moving in the next 2-3 years. By that time i shall be 18 though, and i do think i am going to stay in Wheeling and go to college here. Love ya all...! Peace-out

Having lots of relatives in Wheeling and the surrounding area, I have made frequent visits since the mid-70's. It's always nice to see familiar faces. But these last few visits were something else. Oh, the TRAFFIC!!! How and why do you people put up with such shoddy urban planning? It took me an hour and fifteen minutes to drive from Wheeling up Old McHenry Road to Lake Zurich, a drive which fifteen years ago took twenty minutes tops! And I thought we had it bad in Honolulu. Hey village officials, get together with your counterparts in the surrounding communities and start some coordination of planning, lest you create complete gridlock for your constituents within ten years' time. Just don't allow development to occur without a corresponding upgrade in the surrounding transportation infrastructure. Your roads were built to service a primarily agrarian community, and though Wheeling et al is now the heart of suburbia, your roads are still the same with the exception o! f a little widening here and there (long overdue at Milwaukee Ave. and Dundee Road). Don't repeat the mistakes we've made in Honolulu. See you next year. Have a safe winter.

I moved to Wheeling in 1956. Lived in Dunhurst Heights subdivision. Grew up there. I can't believe the growth! If you look hard enough, you can recognize some of the old landmarks. I sure miss Joe's Pizza. Sure is a sight for sore eyes to see Wheeling on a website! If there is anyone out there who remembers me from the 50's, 60, 70', or 80's, please e-mail me sometime. The address is: sezsells@juno.con

I was updating my "Favorite Places" and opened up this file on Wheeling. Nice to see that it has grown into something more than a website to Save the Trees! Keep up the good work. Wheeling needs to put its best foot forward at every possible moment. If we residents don't do it, no one else will.
